Minutes of Meeting

Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

February 10, 2015

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

                        Members Present:        Wenzel, Lehman, Deitrich, Dent, Moore

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Moore seconded by Lehman to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Lehman seconded by Deitrich to approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) January 13, 2015.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Communications:

 

-Letter from DHS thanking Deputy Schauff for his assistance

-Email from Humane Society letting us know they hired a prior Huber inmate who had worked there while incarcerated.

-Email from Cindy Bodendein thanking us for our assistance with the WINS program which helps reduce the sale of tobacco to minors.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 33 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 28 dogs.  They also took in 66 cats and adopted out/transferred out 34 in the month of January. The Animal Shelter also took 1 rabbit and 1 ferret and adopted out 2 rabbits, 1 goldfish, 1 ferret and 6 guinea pigs. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 9 bite cases; 4 cats and 5 dogs. They responded to 35 calls and impounded 12 dogs and 20 cats and 1 ferret.

           

  1. Review and approve December 2014 and January 2015, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Moore seconded by Deitrich to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for January 2015, in the amount of $8,630.57.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and approve December 2014, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Lehman seconded by Moore to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses for December 2014, in the amount of $16,079.80 and January 2015, in the amount of $85,579.32. Bills discussed. Motion carried

 

  1. Monthly update on CJCC.

Motion by Moore seconded by Dent to approve travel request.

 

  1. Authorization to Extend Contract with Consolidated Correctional Food Service for Provision of Inmate Meals.

Motion by Dent, seconded by Moore. Motion carried.

 

  1. Consideration and approval of Resolution for Authorization to Purchase Six Police Specification Squad Cars and Two Unmarked Squads.

Motion by Deitrich, seconded by Dent to approve the purchase of squad cars.

 

  1. Discussion and consideration of strategic issues for Board Mid-term discussion.

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 09:30 am. Motion by Deitrich seconded by Lehman to adjourn the meeting at 10:26 am. Motion Carried.
