Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

April 14, 2015

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

2. Agenda:  Motion by Moore seconded by Dent to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

3. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Dent, seconded by Moore to approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) March 10, 2015.  Motion carried.

4. Communications:

-Thank you card to Chris Zunker and Tyler Pointon from Community Coordinator of Weston for fingerprinting at 4K

-Thank you letter form Vincent Molinaro to Chris Zunker for the officers assistance with a theft case.  Drew Bulin, Tyler Pointon, Justin Hannagan, Vicki Boese.

-Thank you email from Sheriff Gaffney for assistance with an officer involved shooting.

-Thank you email to Lewis Lange for his attendance at a Task Force meeting in Columbia County.

7. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 52 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 48 dogs.  They also took in 60 cats and adopted out/transferred out 35 in the month of March. The Animal Shelter also took 3 rabbits and 1 cockatiel and transferred 2 guinea pigs, 6 rabbits and 2 finches. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 8 bite cases, all dogs. They responded to 35 calls and impounded 19 dogs and 12 cats.

8. Review and approve March 2015, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Moore, seconded by Dent to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for March 2015, in the amount of $4,782.70.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

9. Review and approve March 2015, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Moore seconded by Dent to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses for March 2015, in the amount of $106,142.23. Bills discussed. Motion carried

10. Monthly update on CJCC.

Data Collection Vendor interviews on April 15, 2015

Court Notification system is moving forward.-Sauk County is a Pilot Project

State of Wisconsin is applying for a federal grant for medication assisted treatment.

11. Consideration and Approval of Amending Sauk County Code § 5.05(3) to Authorize the Sheriff to Establish the Daily Maintenance and Board Charge for Huber Inmates.

Motion by Moore seconded by Dent to approve ordinance change.

12. Sheriff’s Report.

            Calls for Service for March 2015 5,472 calls

Overtime hours for March 2015 642.25 hours

Overtime hours for March 2014 582.25 hours

Prisoner Transports for March– 106 Transports

            24 Juveniles transported for March

            Juvenile Transport cost was $3,255 and housing cost was $7,181.40

            Jail     

EM Report for February 500 offender days 

Collected $8,500.00 and invoiced $1,910.00

Difference of $6,590.00

YTD Housing Billing $158,154.55

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 09:30 am. Motion by Dent seconded by Moore to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 am. Motion Carried.
