The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 09:30 am, in room D102A Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

Members Present: Tollaksen, Stevens, Sinklair, Halfen, Krueger

Members Absent:

Members Excused: Montgomery

Others Present: R. Stammen, M. Hafemann, C. Russo, R. Zuch, R. Meister, J. Fry, Kriegl, Media

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 9:36 AM.
  2. Agenda: Motion by Halfen, seconded by Sinklair, to adopt the amended agenda. Motion carried.
  3. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Halfen, seconded by Sinklair approve the minutes from previous meeting. Motion carried.
  4. Communications:
    • None
  5. Public comment :
    • T. Kriegl in regards to Unit A as well as use of overtime within Sauk County.
  6. Appearances :
    • None
  7. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:
    • Animal Shelter took in 51 dogs and adopted out 60 dogs. They also took in 54 cats and adopted out 24 in the month of May. Had a total of 47 calls and picked up 27 dogs and 9 cats. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 18 bite cases; 13 dogs and 5 cats.
  8. Review and approve May 2010, expenses for Coroner:
    • Motion by Krueger, seconded by Tollaksen, to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for May 2010, in the amount of $3,326.01. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
  9. Review and approve May, 2010, expenses for Sheriff:
    • Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Halfen, to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for May 2010, in the amount of $92,304.19. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
  10. Jail Report
    • Boarding other Jurisdictions for May 2010 was $133,636.45
    • Electronic Monitoring collected $3,685.00 for May.
    • DOC report handed out.
  11. Administrative Report
    • Ryan Scully was promoted to Patrol effective June 16, 2010.
  12. Field Services Report
    • There were 111 prisoner transports in the month of May. There were 7 juveniles transported in the month of May.
    • Dispatch received 6,547 calls for service in the month of May.
  13.  Review and Discuss Unit A figures to be presented at the June County Board Meeting**
    • Marty Krueger spoke regarding the upcoming Board Meetings in regards to speaking time limit for County Board Members.
  14. Adjournment
    • The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for July 13, 2010 at 09:30 am. Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Halfen, to adjourn the meeting.
