Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

October 14, 2014

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:32 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Moore seconded by Lehman to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Lehman seconded by Dent approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) September 9, 2014.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Communications:

-Card from WI DNR thanking us for allowing them to use our Community Room for training.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 58 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 41 dogs.  They also took in 162 cats and adopted out/transferred out 39 in the month of September. The Animal Shelter also took 1 guinea pig and 1 bearded dragon. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 7 bite cases; 4 dogs and 3 cats. They responded to 49 calls and impounded 12 dogs and 31 cats.

           

  1. Review and approve September 2014, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Johnson seconded by Moore to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for September 2014, in the amount of $4,074.05.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and approve September 2014, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Lehman seconded by Dent to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for September 2014 in the amount of $123,330.97.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

 

 

  1. Review and consideration of Resolution Approving a request to apply for aid to law enforcement with Wisconsin Ho-Chunk Lands within Sauk County.

Motion by Moore, seconded by Dent to approve the resolution applying for aid.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

 

            Calls for Service for September 5,514 calls

                       

Overtime hours for September 2013 1,216 hours

Overtime hours for September 2014 912.75 hours

Year to date we are down.  2013 we had 10,160 hours we are down 961.75 hrs to 9,198.25.

 

Prisoner Transports for September– 86 Transports

            12 Juveniles transported for September

            Juvenile Transport cost was $3,161.62 Housing Cost was $1,480.00

EM Report for September 577 offender days 

Collected $9,809.00 and invoiced $2,204.14

Difference of $7,604.86

 

 

YTD Housing Billing $564,533.76

 

We received a Notice of Claim from a former inmate that stated he slipped on wet floors and was injured.

 

12. Adjournment

 

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Monday, November 10, 2014 at 09:30 am. Motion by Moore seconded by Johnson to adjourn the meeting at 9:58 am. Motion Carried.
