Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

July 8, 2014

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

Others Present:            R. Meister, J. Machovec, J. Spencer, M. Stoddard, G. Hahn, L. Lange, R. Greenwood, T. Kriegl

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Amended Agenda:  Motion by Moore seconded by Johnson to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Lehman seconded by Dent approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) June 10, 2014.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Communications:

-Thank you card from Merrimac Community School reference grow lights

-Thank you card from Searles family for the Memorial

-Thank you card from Danielle from UW Extenstion for CD Spencer’s presentation to WI Nutrition Education Program.

-Email update form the Mexican Consulate Visit-all went well with only a minor complaint on Spanish TV.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 63 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 47 dogs.They also took in 136 cats and adopted out/transferred out 23 in the month of June. The Animal Shelter also took 5 finches, 1 rat, 10 guinea pigs, and 4 rabbits. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 14 bite cases; 9 dogs and 4 cats and 1 opossum. They responded to 48 calls and impounded 17 dogs, 28 cats, one opossum and one snake.

 

  1. Review and approve June 2014, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Lehman seconded by Moore to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for June 2014, in the amount of $3,999.25. Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

 

  1. Review and approve June 2014, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Johnson seconded by Lehman to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for June 2014 in the amount of

 

 

  1. Consideration and Approval of Resolution to purchase a 2014 Prisoner Transport Van.

 

 

  1. Consideration and Approval of Resolution Commending Kevin J. Fults for thirty-three years of faithful service to the people of Sauk County.

Motion by Wenzel seconded by Johnson. Motion carried.

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

 

Cory Frank was promoted to Patrol.

 

USMS Task Force will be purchasing a vehicle for the Sheriff’s Office.

 

We assisted Grant County with 2 deputies during the bad storms and tornados.

 

Calls for Service June 2014 6,831 calls

 

Overtime Hours for June 2014 1563.25 hours June 2013 was 1611 hours

 

There was 104 Prisoner Transports in June 2014. 

 

Prisoner Transport cost for 11 Juveniles was $2,275.68. Housing cost was $1,395.00

 

EM Report for June 482 offender days. Collected $8,194.00 and invoiced $1,841.24.

 

YTD Housing billing $373,714.27

 

Lt. Lange updated the Committee on Prisoner Rape Elimination Act.

 

 

11. Adjournment

 

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for August 12, 2014 at 09:30 am. Motion by Johnson seconded by Dent to adjourn the meeting at 9:59 am. Motion Carried.
