Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee
June 10, 2014
The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.
Members Present: Wenzel, Dent, Johnson, Lehman, Moore

Others Present: R. Meister, J. Machovec, J. Spencer, G. Hahn, L. Lange, R. Greenwood
- Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.
- Agenda: Motion by Johnson seconded by Moore to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
- Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Lehman seconded by Johnson approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) May 10, 2014. Motion carried.
- Communications:
Chairperson Wenzel had a communication from a Supervisor who had a person who wanted to attend the Law Enforcement Committee however the person never contacted Chairperson Wenzel.

- Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:
Animal Shelter took in 41 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 33 dogs. They also took in 97 cats and adopted out/transferred out 58 in the month of May. The Animal Shelter also took 1 hamster, and 2 rabbits. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 16 bite cases; 13 dogs and 3 cats. They responded to 54 calls.
- Review and approve May 2014, expenses for Coroner:
Motion by Johnson seconded by Lehman to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for May 2014, in the amount of $2,688.34. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
Coroner Hahn handed out the Strategic Program Review form for his 2015 budget.
- Review and approve May 2014, expenses for Sheriff:
Motion by Lehman seconded by Johnson to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for May 2014 in the amount of $74,889.01. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
- Consideration of an Ordinance Amendment to Sauk Co. Code §6.06(1)(b) and §20.07(2)(c) Increasing the Forfeiture for Parking In a Handicapped Parking Restrictions.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Moore to approve the Ordinance Amendment. Motion carried.
- Discussion and consideration of program review form (mission, vision, goals, and performance measures) for 2015 Budget.

- Sheriff’s Report.
Calls for Service May 2014 6,621 calls
Overtime Hours for May 2014 580 hours May 2013 was 997.25 hours
There was 113 Prisoner Transports in May 2014.
Prisoner Transport cost for 20 Juveniles was $6,286.65. Housing cost was $2,480.00
EM Report for May 408 offender days. Collected $6,828.00 and invoiced $1,570.02.
Served 143 Civil Process papers in May 2014.
YTD Housing billing $293,957.37
Jeff Spencer will be promoted to Chief Deputy as of July 1, 2014 as well as Mike Stoddard will be promoted to Captain to replace Jeff Spencer.
11. Adjournment
The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for July 8, 2014 at 09:30 am. Motion by Johnson seconded by Dent to adjourn the meeting at 10:14 am. Motion Carried.
