Minutes of Meeting

Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

October 8, 2013

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

                        Members Present:        Stevens, Nobs, Johnson, Halfen, Tollaksen

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Nobs, to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Halfen, seconded by Nobs approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) September 10, 2013 and September 17, 2013.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Communications:

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 49 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 47 dogs.  They also took in 207 cats and adopted out/transferred out 24 in the month of September. The Animal Shelter also took 5 rabbits and 1 Cockatiel. They adopted out 1 guinea pig and 1 rabbit.  The Animal Shelter had a total of 61 calls and picked up 60 cats and 16 dogs and 1 rabbit.

The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 3 bite cases; 2 dogs and 1 cat.

 

  1. Review and approve  September 2013, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Halfen, seconded by Johnson, to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for September 2013, in the amount of $5,439.14.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and approve September 2013, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Halfen, to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for September 2013 in the amount of $97,300.28.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and consideration of Resolution Approving a request to apply for aid to law enforcement with Wisconsin Ho-Chunk Lands within Sauk County.

Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Halfen to approve the request to apply for aid.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

Number of Calls Report handed out. 5,489 calls for service in September 2013.

Overtime Hours for September 2013 1,249.50 hours September 2013 was 1082.75 hours

There was 78 Prisoner Transports in September 2013. 

Prisoner Transport cost for 13 Juveniles was $2,817.45. Housing Costs was $8,640

EM Report for September– Total of 425 offender days.  Collected $6,131.00 in fees and were invoiced $1,623.50 for a profit of $4,507.50.

YTD Housing billing $616540.30

 

 

  1. Adjournment

 

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for November 5, 2013 at 09:30 am. Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson to adjourn the meeting at11:00am. Motion Carried.
