November 5, 2013
The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.
Members Present: Stevens, Nobs, Johnson, Tollaksen
Members Absent: Halfen
Members Excused:
Others Present: R. Meister, J. Fry, K. Fults, J. Spencer, G. Hahn, R. Zuch
- Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 9:30 am.
- Agenda: Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson, to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
- Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Nobs, seconded by Johnson approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) October 8, 2013. Motion carried.
- Communications:
-Email from Art Carlson thanking Sgt. Lange for attending the CAP Program in Madison.
-Thank you letter from Nathan White for allowing Sgt. Schlough and Sgt. Burton the opportunity to speak about staff wellness during the Jail Administrators Conference.

- Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:
Animal Shelter took in 41 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 30 dogs. They also took in 140 cats and adopted out/transferred out 33 in the month of October. The Animal Shelter also took 5 rabbits, 1 Cockatiel, 1 Guinea Pig, 2 Hamsters and 1 rate. They adopted out 2 cockatiels, 2 hamsters and 1 rabbit. The Animal Shelter had a total of 48 calls and picked up 36 cats and 17 dogs.
The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 9 bite cases; 6 dogs and 3 cats.
Baraboo Motors held an event to raise monies for the Humane Society
- Review and approve October 2013, expenses for Coroner:
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Tollaksen, to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for October 2013, in the amount of $4,203.32. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
- Review and approve October 2013, expenses for Sheriff:
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson, to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for October 2013 in the amount of $73,631.28. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
- Consideration and approval of Resolution to Create a Drug Enforcement Coordinator (Project Position) for the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department Effective January 1, 2014.
No Motion just informing committee.
- Sheriff’s Report.
Number of Calls Report handed out. 5,283 calls for service in October 2013.
Overtime Hours for October 2013 770.75 hours October 2013 was 511 hours
There was 124 Prisoner Transports in October 2013.
Prisoner Transport cost for 11 Juveniles was $1,004.64. Housing Costs was $1,390.00.
EM Report for October – No report due to timing of meeting.
YTD Housing billing $687,217.65
Drug Take Back Program we took back 811 pounds of prescription drugs.

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for December 10, 2013 at 09:30 am. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Nobs to adjourn the meeting at10:06am. Motion Carried.
