Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee
May 11, 2021
The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 05:15 pm, in Room 213, West Square Building, 505 Broadway, Baraboo WI
The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and in compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Dave Riek at 05:31 pm.
Agenda: Motion by Deitrich, seconded by Dorner to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Schell, seconded by Reppen to approve minutes from April 13, 2021. Motion Carried.

Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:
51 animals in April, 39 calls in April with 8 bite case reports.
Review and approve expenses for Coroner.
Motion by Schell, seconded by Dorner to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses in the amount of $1,670.48. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
Coroner’s Report
Report handed out.
Review and approve expenses for Sheriff.
Motion by Deitrich, seconded by Schell to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses in the amount of $115,484.68 and $30,094.12 for April 2021. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
Consideration and Approval of Resolution Commending Billie Mears for 29 years of service to Sauk County. Motion by Dorner, seconded by Schell. Motion carried.
Discussion of Jail Facility.
K. Schell brought it up to the Property and Insurance committee for recommendations. The Committee stated they didn’t know all the regulations from the Department of Corrections and that it is currently being used for training purposes in-house. Also, the Committee stated it wouldn’t work for servers to be housed there. Another idea was maybe charge outside counties for using it as a training location. Sheriff stated that he will reach out to Madison College to see if they would be interested. Put on agenda in July instead of June

GED in the Jail continues. Even with COVID we still had 7 inmates receive a HSED.
