    1. Possible recommendation by the Sauk County Development Corporation to the Economic Development Committee to forward resolution to the Board.
    2. Possible approval of resolution by the Economic Development Committee.

Sauk County Development Corporation

            Members present:  Roger Friede, Gordon Priegel, Ray Ring, Ray Bolton, Gene Robkin, Wendy Crary, John Schmidt, Wendy Crary, Jim Bowers, Tara Zitzner, William Wenzel

            Members absent:  Fred Halfen, John Alt, Jeff Filter

                                                                                              

Others present:       Kathy Schauf, Mike Palm, Jim Allen, Gene Dalhoff, Vicki Terpstra, Tim Linns, Gina Templin, Paul Jadin

 

The meeting was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 6:00 p.m.  The agenda was approved on a motion by Fish, second by Schmidt.

 

Motion by Friede, second by Peper to elect Marty Krueger as the joint meeting chair.  Motion carried.

 

The meeting minutes from the prior meeting (Economic Development Committee) were approved on a motion by Stehling, second by Riek.  Motion carried.

 

The meeting minutes from the prior meeting (Sauk County Development Corporation) were approved on a motion by Schmidt, second by Bolton.  Motion carried.

 

Public Comment  None.

 

Communications  None.

 

Presentation by Madison Region Economic Partnership (formerly known as THRIVE), Paul Jadin, President/CEO of MadREP  and Gene Dalhoff, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.  Paul Jadin, and Gene Dalhoff presented the strategy for the Madison Region Economic Partnership in the five key areas of:  Economic Competitiveness, Human Capital, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Leadership, and Diversity.

 

Consideration of a Resolution Supporting the Regional EDA Application For Economic Development District Approval.

 

Motion by Bowers, second by Bolton, to recommend approval by SCDC of the Resolution Supporting the Regional EDA Application For Economic Development District Approval.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by Stehling, second by Fish to approve Resolution Supporting the Regional EDA Application For Economic Development District Approval.  Motion carried.

 

Orientation Report by Jim Allen, Executive Director, Sauk County Development Corporation.  Reviewed interview process and plans for development of strategic plan process.  Discussed highlights of interviews conducted within communities thus far.

 

Update and Report on PSC Broadband Demand Survey   Jim Allen, Marty Krueger, and Kathy Schauf updated efforts to distribute and receive responses to the Public Service Commission’s broadband survey in the residential and business community.  Outreach to local governments, schools, libraries and businesses is under way.

Motion by Lehman, second by Bolton, to adjourn the meeting to (Sauk County Development Corporation - July 15, 2013); and(Economic Development Committee - July 22, 2013) .  Motion carried.
