ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENET COMMITTEE MINUTES

Economic Development Committee Members Present: Tim McCumber, Carl Gruber, Bryant Hazard, Mark “Smooth” Detter, Brandon Lohr, Bob Prosser and Marty Krueger

Others Present: Melanie Platt-Gibson, Brent Miller and Tywana German

 At 4:00 pm, Chair McCumber called the Economic Development Committee meeting to order and certified compliance with the open meetings law. 

Adopt Agenda: Motion to adopt agenda by Hazard, 2nd by Prosser. Motion carried. 

Adopt Minutes from the Previous Meeting: Motion by Hazard, 2nd by Prosser  to approve the minutes from the November 21, 2022 meeting. Motion carried. 

Public comment: None 

Communication: None 

Development Director’s Report: Platt-Gibson reported providing Arrivalist Information to all Partner Chambers for year-end reports and marketing use; shared the bonus Uniquely Wisconsin (UW) video spot and noted the UW American Player’s Theatre piece was completed and scheduled to air; Travel Wisconsin social media went live on Dec. 14 and the ExploreSaukCounty.com 7 Winter Things to Do in Sauk County went live Dec. 12. The January meeting will need to be moved as it falls on MLK holiday; winter photography is scheduled for Feb. 22 & 23 and several social media influencers have been contacted to determine their interest and cost to work with ExploreSaukCounty.com.

Brand Development:

  • Explore SaukCounty.com Update – The ExploreSaukCo.com 2023 final marketing plan was provided.
  • The final Medium Giant 2023 contract has been finalized for $235,000.

Community Development:

  • Tywana German, Executive Director of the Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce, presented an update of her community.
  • UW-Platteville Interim Chancellor Tammy Evetovich met with Sauk County / City of Baraboo individuals to address Platteville’s commitment to providing higher education at our campus.

Special Projects:

  • Great Sauk Trail Update – the UW-Platteville senior design team delivered their final presentation and set of approved engineering plans to Sauk County’s LRE team.
