Public Comment
Communications.
Amendment for consideration regarding Wormfarm funding authorizing the entire $40,000 in 2014 in two installments at the beginning and end of 2014.
Updates
Rails – State Purchase of UP/Madison to Reedsburg Line. A meeting was held last Thursday and progress is being made. It is anticipated that the sale will be completed by the end of the year.
Trails – DNR Process. Stehling and Krueger provided an update. The County has been negotiating the contract for the trail corridor with the DNR. The County is working to draft a memorandum of understanding for working with local jurisdictions. This will put in place the necessary agreements to begin development of the trail. Representatives from the Village of Sauk, Village of Prairie du Sac, the County of Sauk, the Town of Sumpter, and the Town of Merrimac continue to meet with the DNR. Next meeting is December 04, 2014, to work out details of structure for continued work.
Discussion of an amendment for multi-year funding for Fermentation Fest. This was an update to the committee only, with an explanation of the changes to the amendment. This is an event that fits into the development of the regional community identity as one of the 10 x 10 x 10, or 1,000 things to do in the region.
Discussion and consideration of an overall community identity.
Ownership, Oversight, and Process: Be willing to organize, and move the initiative forward, inviting chamber directors and others who need to be at the table to discuss what the identity is and should be. The buy-in of the large and small communities is needed. Beginning point – joint meeting with Sauk County Development Corporation.
Consideration of Property Master Plan
Discussion of tour/potential re-uses of property located in the Town of Dellona (130 acres). Motion by Polivka, second by Lehman to postpone to December. Motion carried.
Motion by Stehling, second by Peper, to adjourn the meeting to December 12, 2013 for presentation by Andy Lewis and work on the Property Master Plan; and in January of 2014 to meet jointly with Sauk County Development Corporation. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Stehling
Economic Development Committee Secretary
