OWI #4

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at approximately 5:40PM, a Sauk County Deputy was at the intersection of W Pine Street and Linn Street in West Baraboo when he observed a vehicle attempt to make a right turn from Linn Street onto W Pine Street, to head southbound. As the operator attempted to make the turn, the vehicle crossed both lanes and drove over the curb, nearly striking a traffic light and the squad. The Deputy immediately began to catch up to the vehicle and observed it fail to stop at several stop signs before stopping for the Deputy. The Deputy made contact with the operator, identified as Paul L Jones, age 54, of Baraboo, WI.

While speaking with Jones, the Deputy observed signs of impairment. Jones was asked to perform field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, Jones was placed under arrest for Operating While Intoxicated 4th Offense.

Charges of operating while intoxicated 4th offense, obstructing, fail to stop at a stop sign, and reckless driving are being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office.
