Purpose

To authorize the purchase of key network hardware in need of replacement.

Background

Sauk County’s information network interconnects all county facilities. The core switch is the heart of this network providing information routing throughout the County’s private network and to the outside world via the internet.

The current core switch was purchased in 2013 and will be at the vendors end of life this year. End of life means that no firmware updates or support will be available from the vendor after the end of life date, leaving the device vulnerable to failure and security degradation.

WHEREAS, in your Executive and Legislative Committee's reasonable judgment, it is in the best interest of Sauk County to accept the following bid, from Heartland Business Systems for the replacement switch and related network components:

Total Hardware Cost: $ 96,503.40

Total Services Cost: $ 5,940.00

Total Project: $102,443.40

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors met in regular session, that the above-described quote be and hereby is accepted by the County of Sauk; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Management Information Systems Director is hereby delegated the authority to sign any contracts related to the purchase and installation of said equipment on behalf of Sauk County.
