Resolution to Amend the 2024 Budget for Allocation of the Environmental Impact Fee from the Badger-Coulee 345 Kilovolt Transmission Project Received from the American Transmission Company (ATC) Funds for a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)

BACKGROUND: Sauk County borders on the Wisconsin River and Lake Wisconsin.  In the past several years, Sauk County has had several people drown while on the water.  Due to the fast-moving current and depth of the water, it makes locating and recovering the bodies a significant challenge.  The Sheriff’s Office would like to purchase a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to assist our office, and other first responders, in the location and recovery of the drowning victims.  The ROV can maneuver in the fast current and penetrate the deeper water without putting undue stress on our Dive Team and potentially endangering our divers.  After examination of the quotes the Committee recommends accepting the quote of Deep Trekker of Kitchener, Ontario with the cost of the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) being $93,537.39.  The 2024 Sheriff’s Budget did not include funding for the remotely operated vehicle (ROV); and the Environmental Impact Fee from the Badger-Coulee 345 Kilovolt Transmission Project Received from the American Transmission Company (ATC) are available for this purchase.

WHEREAS, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin has approved the use of the environmental impact fee for the purchase of the remotely operated vehicle (ROV).

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, does hereby approve an amendment to the 2024 Budget to allocate $93,537.39 for the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) funded by the American Transmission Company (ATC).
