AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR A PARKING AND LAND ACQUISITION STUDY FOR WHITE MOUND COUNTY PARK

Background: The Land Resources and Environment Department is conducting a Master Planning process for White Mound County Park.  Public input and recreational use statistics have been gathered and reviewed.  In addition, the park has seen significant increases in use during the summer and fall months that fill parking areas and concentrate recreational users in specific areas of the park.  Through public outreach there is a notable desire and need within the area for new recreational uses within the park.  Prior to adding any new uses or trails, the County would like to conduct a parking and land acquisition study to assist staff in placing new uses or expand existing uses in a way that will not cause adverse effects upon the property.  In addition, the department would like to look at opportunities for expansion and where the best areas may be for specific types of recreational uses.

The LRE Department issued a Request for Proposal on August 25, 2021 for an Parking and Land Acquisition Study.  Three (3) firms responded to the RFP, as noted in Appendix A.  The Land Resources and Environment Committee reviewed the RFP’s in a regular meeting held on October 14, 2021 and recommended XXXXX for the Parking and Land Acquisition Study for White Mound County Park.
