Supervised Release Committee Meeting Minutes
5/11/21
- The Meeting was called to order by Dan Brattset at 9:39 a.m. and certified compliance with the Open Meeting Law.
- Introductions were made. Present was Dan Brattset, Director, Sauk County Department of Human Services; Brian Desmond, Sauk County Corporation Counsel; Sally Cobb, GIS; Joe Fleishmann, GIS; Tyler Pointon, Sauk County Sheriff’s Department; Brent Miller, Sauk County Administrator (arrived at 9:50 a.m.)
Present by “Zoom”: Nicole Dobbs, State of Wisconsin Probation and Parole
Absent/Excused: Scott Timm, State of Wisconsin DHS
- Updates on Placements Pending: Brattset reported that to his knowledge there are 3 pending placements for Sauk County; will confirm this with Scott Timm.
- Brattset reviewed the process as outlined in the agenda; all present described their role as outlined. These were noted as accurate.
- A number of potential ideas came up for improvement/efficiencies:
- Cobb will send Pointon the GIS app for checking buffers.
- Brattset to check with Timm as to vendor list. Where did it originate? Would it help to advertise in some way to expand number of vendors?
- Discussion: Are bike trails/paths parks? Cobb and Fleishmann stated they will include these on buffer criteria.
- Discussion about J-1 housing in Wisconsin Dells - could this be used? Likely not due to nearby apartments.
- Use of County foreclosed homes and other properties: Brattset did not think the Board would be interested in using County properties for releases. Miller confirmed that opinion. Foreclosed homes are often not in shape that would allow for this use and most are in areas that do not meet buffer requirements.
- In conclusion, Brattset reported that the whole process is frustrating due to the very limited housing in Sauk County in general. Brattset reported that on 5/25/21 he will update the Court at Judge Klicko’s request, as to efforts that have been made on one case. Desmond to participate in that call as well.
- Next Meeting will be sometime in three months or earlier if needed.
- There was no Closed Session as specific cases involving confidential details were not discussed.
- Motion to adjourn made by Fleishmann, seconded by Desmond. Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Daniel A. Brattset, Director
Sauk County Department of Human Services
