MINUTES
SAUK COUNTY BOARD OF HUMAN SERVICES
Meeting: August 5, 2013, 5:00 p.m., County Board Gallery, Baraboo, WI
Members Present: Scott Alexander, James Bowers, Beverly Vertein, Andrea Lombard, John Miller, Thomas Kriegl, Ruth Dawson, Julie Fleming
Members Excused: None
Members Absent: Mark Detter
Others Present: Orth, Box
Chair Alexander called the meeting to order and certified compliance with the Open Meeting Law.
Motion by Andrea Lombard, seconded by Beverly Vertein to adopt the agenda. Motion Carried.
Orth addressed the discussion from last month regarding adjusting minutes from previous months after they have been approved by the Board. Orth stated he talked with Todd Liebman from Corporation Counsel. Todd stated no minutes can be changed after they are approved by the Board.
Motion by John Miller, seconded by Thomas Kriegl to approve minutes of the previous meeting. Motion Carried to approve the July minutes. Scott Alexander, Andrea Lombard, Thomas Kriegl, John Miller, James Bowers, Beverly Vertein, Julie Fleming approving. Ruth Dawson opposed.

Communications:
Orth handed out a flyer regarding a symposium on Treatment Alternatives and Diversion in case anyone wanted to attend.
Business Items:
A. Review and Approve Monthly Vouchers: Box distributed and reviewed the Monthly Voucher Report. Several line items were explained. Motion by Beverly Vertein, seconded by Andrea Lombard to approve the monthly vouchers in the amount of $957,015.35. Motion Carried.
B. Justice Continuum Resolution: Orth handed out an amended resolution as there was a small error in the one sent with the packet. Orth stated that Dan Brattset and he met with Kathy and Marty. It was decided the first steps were to meet with a Judge (Judge Evenson), meet with the District Attorney and then create a resolution to form a committee for planning of programming. Orth stated Judge Evenson and District Attorney Calkins were very supportive and agreed to take leadership roles. Kathy and Marty met with the Sheriff. After this committee (if the Human Services Board approves) the resolution will go to two other committees and then County Board. It was discussed with Kathy and Marty to take start up money out of general reserves. Motion by John Miller, seconded by James Bowers to approve the resolution. Motion Carried.
C. 2014 Budget Request: Orth went through the Budget Narrative and Levy Request Summary and discussed 2014 budget highlights. Motion by Beverly Vertein, seconded by Andrea Lombard to approve the 2014 Levy Request in the amount of $7,675,802 (outside agency requests are not included in this levy request. They will be presenting to the Board in September and the additional levy will be voted on at that time). Motion Carried.
The next meeting of the Sauk County Human Services Board will be September 9, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. Motion by James Bowers, seconded by Andrea Lombard to adjourn. Motion Carried.
