SAUK COUNTY BOARD OF HUMAN SERVICES

Meeting:                         March 5, 2018, 4:15 p.m., Room 213, West Square Building, Baraboo, WI

Members Present:        Joan Fordham, John Miller, James Bowers, Peter Vedro, Beverly Vertein, Julie Fleming, Jean Berlin, John Deitrich, Clark Pettersen

Chair, Joan Fordham called the meeting to order and certified compliance with the Open Meeting Law.

Motion by John Deitrich, seconded by Peter Vedro to adopt agenda.  Motion Carried.

Motion by James Bowers, seconded by Clark Pettersen to approve the minutes for the previous Human Services Board meeting held on February 5, 2018.  Motion Carried.

Business Items:

Review and Approve Monthly Vouchers:  Distributed electronically.  Stephanie Box reviewed the Monthly Voucher Report.  Motion by Beverly Vertein, seconded by James Bowers, to approve monthly vouchers in the amount of $1,454,580.89.  Motion carried.  

4:19 p.m. John Miller arrived.

Accounts Receivable Report:  Stephanie Box distributed and reviewed the Accounts Receivable Report for January 2018.

Approval for Collection Requests:  Motion by John Miller, seconded by James Bowers, to approve sending 28 accounts to Credit Management Control for $41,144.91.  Motion carried.

Monthly Reports:  Distributed electronically.  Stephanie Box discussed the January 2018 Volatile line report.

Preliminary Year End:  Dan Brattset discussed the most noticeable factor were revenues favoring the budget.  Discussion took place regarding many unexpected payments received in 2017, explained by Stephanie Box.

Approve Carryforward Request:  With the results from the preliminary year-end, $176,998.00 is requested as carryforward into 2018.  Motion by Clark Pettersen, seconded by Peter Vedro, to approve the carryforward request.  Ayes:  Fordham, Miller, Bowers, Vedro, Vertein, Fleming, Berlin, Pettersen.  Nays:  Deitrich.  Motion carried.

Approve Resolution Commending Kathy Geffert for Over 9 Years of Service to the People of Sauk County:  Dan Brattset discussed the longevity and dedication from Kathy Geffert.  Motion by Jean Berlin, seconded by John Deitrich, to approve the resolution commending Kathy Geffert for over 9 years of service wot the people of Sauk County.  Motion carried. 

Approve Resolution Commending Agencies, Community Organizations, and Citizens Supporting National Child Abuse Prevention Month:  Dan Brattset discussed the importance of acknowledging Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.  Motion by John Deitrich, seconded by Jean Berlin, to approve the resolution commending agencies, community organizations, and citizens supporting National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Motion carried. 

Consideration for Approval of Travel in Excess of 300 Miles for two people to attend the National Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit April 2-5, 2018, in Atlanta, Georgia:  Sharon Boesl discussed the upcoming event and the uniformities for DHS.  Grants will pay for all expenses with the exception of staff salary.  Motion by John Miller, seconded by James Bowers, to approve travel in excess of 300 miles for two people to attend the national Rx drug abuse & heroin summit April 2-5, 2018, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Motion carried. 

Department Updates:

Presentation on Psychiatry – Andy Gorsuch, R.N., MHRS Unit: Andrew (Andy) Gorsuch discussed his role with the agency.  He supports services for three practitioners in the Mental Health and Recovery Services (MHRS) unit.  Other services through MHRS were discussed.

2017 Annual Report: Distributed electronically. 

Next Meeting:  The next meeting of the Sauk County Human Services Board will be April 9, 2018, at 4:15 p.m. in Room 213.
