Chair, Joan Fordham called the meeting to order and certified compliance with the Open Meeting Law.
Motion by Clark Pettersen, seconded by John Deitrich to adopt agenda. Motion Carried.
Joan reported the motion to approve the 2017 annual report was removed from the March minutes after discussion with Dan Brattset that the annual report has not been approved in the past. Motion by John Deitrich, seconded by Jean Berlin to approve the minutes for the previous Human Services Board meeting held on March 5, 2018. Motion Carried.

2018 WCHSA Conference May 15-17th: Distributed electronically.
James Bowers arrived at 4:17 p.m.
Dan discussed the WCHSA Spring Conference and asked board members who want to attend to contact him to get registered. Dan reported he will not attend this year but Sharon Boesl will attend. The conference is being held at Elkhart Lake.
Possible Closed Session – Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes § 19.85(1)(c) Considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Performance evaluation of the Director of the Department of Human Services. Motion by John Deitrich, seconded by Peter Vedro to go into closed session. Roll Call: AYES (9) Joan Fordham, John Miller, James Bowers, Peter Vedro, Julie Fleming, Jean Berlin, John Deitrich, Beverly Vertein, Clark Pettersen. Motion carried.
Reconvene in Open Session: Motion by John Deitrich, seconded by Peter Vedro to reconvene in open session. Motion carried.
Business Items:
Review and Approve Monthly Vouchers: Distributed electronically. Jennifer Kleckner reviewed the Monthly Voucher Report. Motion by John Deitrich, seconded by James Bowers to approve monthly vouchers in the amount of $1,706,858.07. Motion carried.
Accounts Receivable Report: Jennifer Kleckner distributed and reviewed the Accounts Receivable Report for February 2017.
Approval for Collection Requests: Motion by Jean Berlin, seconded by Beverly Vertein, to approve sending 27 accounts to Credit Management Control for $6,241.50. Motion carried.
Monthly Reports: Distributed electronically. Jennifer Kleckner discussed the February 2018 Volatile line report.
Department Updates:
Hope House Contract: $40,500 Child and Family Advocacy, $9,500 Assessment of Need: Dan discussed a CASA contract via the court system for a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). Hope House has determined the requirements for CASA are not in line with their staffing and approached about having a separate contract for advocacy and for developing a plan for a child and family resource center in Sauk County, a model used in other counties. Alene Kleczek Bolin is working on this contract. Services will continue to be provided until the new contract is in place.
School Collaborations: Articles distributed electronically which were submitted by Peter Vedro. Dan reported he met with Lori Mueller, Superintendent of Baraboo Schools, which led to scheduling a meeting next week for mental health staff, school social work and counseling staff to identify gaps. Looking at serving younger children who are challenging. Dan discussed internal training of mental health staff and working with local providers to propel them to see younger children.
Joan Fordham mentioned Jeff Jelinek and Tracy Hameau from Emergency Management have been working in schools on active shooter training including escape plans and reunification plans. James Bowers mentioned Baraboo Schools has added new Behavioral Interventionists positions. Discussed including community partners such as Boys and Girls Club and Kid’s Ranch in the future.

The next meeting of the Sauk County Human Services Board will be May 7, 2018, at 4:15 p.m. in Room 213.

Dan thanked Joan for her leadership on the board and Clark for his input.
Motion by Clark Pettersen, seconded by Joan Fordham, to adjourn at 4:55 p.m. Motion Carried.
