Sauk County Highway Department - County Trunk Highways Spring Weight Restrictions

Sauk County Highway Department - County Trunk Highways Spring Weight Restrictions

To:                   ALL TRUCK OWNERS AND DRIVERS

From:               Stephen A. Muchow, Sauk County Highway Commissioner

Date:               February 25, 2016

Subject:           Spring Thaw Period

We ask for your cooperation through the coming Spring thaw period, which is a time that can be devastating to county highway, lettered roads.

We ask you not to haul loads that are not perishable through the times when the frost is going out.  This would be a product such as logs, redi-mix concrete, silos, crushed rock, etc.

Furthermore, we ask milk haulers to try to arrange their route so their truck may be finished loading from the patrons on state roads, numbered roads.

There may be situations when you may haul early morning, if the temperatures were freezing the night before and quit by the middle of the forenoon.

Sauk County will not temporarily post the roads this Spring, unless we have problems in certain areas.

Thank you for your cooperation.  This does help provide you better roads over the years.

Sincerely,

Stephen A. Muchow

Sauk Co. Highway Commissioner
