Snowmobile Land Use Agreement

Through annual resolutions (22-2019), the Sauk Co. Parks Department participates in the State of Wisconsin Motorized Recreation Grant Program. This program is 100% funded by the DNR for the acquisition, development, insurance and maintenance of public snowmobile trails. 

There are 3 different snowmobile trails that cross over DNR property. To allow the snowmobile trail to cross their property, the DNR enters into an Snowmobile Land Use agreement with the Parks Department. The snowmobile land use permit expired on October 31, 2019. 

The Parks Department would be responsible for constructing, signing and maintaining the snowmobile trails. However, the Parks Department contracts with the Association of Sauk County Snowmobile Clubs (ASCSC) through a Development, Maintenance and Grooming Contract to have the ASCSC construct, sign and maintain the snowmobile trails.
