Westwood understands that the Sauk County Highway Department is proposing to construct a new combined
office and equipment facility in Reedsburg. The site at 537 K Street is approximately 4½ acres and is currently
occupied by Sauk County Highway Department. The parcel width is approximately 300 feet wide and extends
south of K Street for approximately 680 feet. Five (5) existing structures are on the relatively flat site that is
primarily covered with asphaltic pavement with the exception of the southeastern corner which is unpaved.
The new highway facility building will generally be square-shaped at approximate dimensions of 220 feet in the
plan east-west direction and 200 feet in the plan north-south orientation. Building utilization will consist of
office space in the plan northeast region and garage space in the remaining area. The building is proposed to be
a slab-on-grade building consisting of precast wall panels and steel framing. In addition to the planned new
Highway Facility, a new salt shed is being proposed in the far southeasterly portion of the site. The salt shed will
likely be a timber structure with shallow concrete retaining wall foundations. The salt shed will have
approximate dimensions of 184 feet in an east-west orientation and 80 feet in a south-north orientation. Of the
five (5) existing structures, it is Westwood’s understanding that only one will remain which is in the
southwestern corner of the site.
Site work for new pavements, utilities, stormwater ponds, etc. is also included in the project as well as
demolition of existing buildings on the site.
