Sauk County owns a tree planter that is rented out to Sauk County residents. The storage and rental of this tree planter is coordinated by the Wisconsin DNR foresters along with the tree and nut planters they own and rent out. Recently, the storage space utilized at Devil's Lake was determined to be unsuitable and the Wisconsin DNR sought other options for storage. Sauk County has space available at the Sauk County farm to store both tree planters and the nut planter so a MOU was developed to determine the roles and responsibilities of both parties. Sauk County LRE has collected all of the revenue associated with renting out the tree planters for over 10 years and is being asked to pay for the maintenance costs. These costs are expected to be intermittent over the next 3 years and under $1000.
