Chairperson Wedekind called the meeting to order at 8:30 A.M. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.
Motion by Kolb, seconded by Geimer to approve the agenda for today’s meeting, as mailed. Motion carried.
Motion by Geimer, seconded by Kolb to approve the minutes from the previous meeting, as mailed. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
None
Communications:
Mielke presented a certified copy of Resolution #74-10 Approving the Amendment of Bylaws for the University of Wisconsin - Baraboo/Sauk County Campus Commission, as adopted by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors on June 15, 2010 (changing the date of election for Commission officers). Chair Wedekind noted the Baraboo City Council has adopted a like resolution.
Financial Report:
C. Giese, City Clerk, distributed a Revenue/Expenditure Report, indicating an unexpended balance of $131,279.72 (including carryover funds from the garage project) and $60,515.69 in the designated capital equipment account.
Maintenance Report, Review and Payment of Bills:
R. Griffith presented the monthly maintenance report and list of bills. Motion by Giese, seconded by Geimer to approve the list of bills submitted in the amount of $5,950.05. Motion carried.
Griffith noted serious issues exist with the 15 ton AC unit in the Library; estimated replacement cost being between $18,000 and $20,000. Discussion followed with a motion by Kolb, seconded by Geimer to authorize bids for a replacement unit to be considered at next month’s meeting. Motion carried.
Dean’s Report:
- Commencement ceremony held on May 22nd, various degrees awarded.
- Collection of art work donated to Campus by Carrie Olson and Larry McCoy.
- Students recently returned from the Scotland educational exchange trip; a rewarding experience with additional students and staff planning to attend next year.
- Board of Regents meeting held last week in Milwaukee; two issues benefiting our Campus are the tuition freeze and Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degrees.
- Predicting a possible record enrollment this fall.
- ACT Program/Alternative Careers & Teaching, will involve the local community.
- Several areas of the Campus facilities are in need of new carpet and paint.
- Numerous meetings have been held recently regarding student housing on Campus; hope to present options for consideration later this fall.
- An extension to mid August has been given to hire a replacement for Robert Griffith.
Discussion on Parking Lot Improvements:
Chair Wedekind, David Armstrong and the Baraboo City Engineer recently met and walked the Campus parking lot area. The City Engineer will draw up plans for consideration at a later date.
Discussion on Computer Lab Remodeling:
Discussion took place with David Armstrong reporting the computer lab has been shut down during the summer and would only be cooled on the few occasions it is used, thereby alleviating immediate concerns over temperature issues in that area.
Commission members discussed the deteriorating condition of carpet in several rooms. Motion was made by Lombard, seconded by Kolb to obtain specs for carpet replacement in the computer lab, copy room, and commons area of the Unhoeffer Building. Motion carried.

Update on Living and Learning Center
No report.
Motion by Mielke, seconded by to adjourn and set the next, regular meeting date for Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 8:30 A.M. Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 9:40 A.M.
