5. Consideration of a resolution Authorizing  an Agreement with Bluffstone, LLC for the Lease of Land, Construction, and Operation of a Residence Hall on the University of Wisconsin Baraboo – Sauk County.

SPECIAL Meeting – September 10, 2013

 

Present:  Wedekind, Kolb, Geimer, Giese, DeMars, VonAsten, Lombard

Also Present:  Kohlmeyer, Armstrong, Schauf, Kleczek, Pleger, Geick, Palm, Krueger,

Absent: 

 

Chairperson Wedekind called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. and certified compliance with the Open Meetings Law.

MOTION (Kolb/Geimer) to approve the agenda. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Public Comments None.

 

Communications  None.

 

Consideration of a resolution Authorizing an Agreement with Bluffstone, LLC for the Lease of Land, Construction, and Operation of a Residence hall on the University of  Wisconsin Baraboo – Sauk County. Schauf presented a brief summary of discussions with commission members on this project and vendor selected indicating no site location has been chosen yet.  If resolution is approved at county board, this is the next step to be taken.  Kleczek, Assistant Corporation Counsel advised her office is waiting to hear back from Bluffstone’s attorney today regarding the contract.  Discussion followed as to possible site locations in the north or east sides of campus, design layout, potentially a 30 year plan.  We will continue to have sub-committee group meetings for this project to relay progress and actions needed to the UW Campus commission.  Both Tim Stieve and Tom Pinion are on this sub-committee to assist with engineer design, layout of building and for fire and security codes.  Cheryl suggests having both vendors at next meeting for possible joint participation in site location and building design.   Schauf and Armstrong will contact vendors. 

 

MOTION (Kolb/Lombard) to approve authorizing an agreement with Bluffstone, LLC for the lease of land, construction, and operation of a residence hall on the U W Baraboo/Sauk County Campus and forward to County Board for their consideration at their September 17, 2013 meeting.  ROLL CALL VOTE:  AYES: (6)

Wedekind, Giese, Geimer, DeMars, Lombard, Kolb.  NAYS: (1) VonAsten.  Motion carried.

 

MOTION (Kolb/Lombard) to adjourn until September 19, 2013 at 8:00 A.M. for the regular meeting or possibly a different date for regular meeting if necessary to schedule both vendor appearances.  Motion unanimously carried.
