a) Ridership: A verbal report was given comparing first quarter 2017 to first quarter 2018 in the following areas: (1) the number of riders on the shopping bus and fun day travels representing a significant increase in ridership due to the changes made to the program, (2) the taxi voucher program and the increased amount of tickets issued due to the allowances given for medical and employment needs that were not previously allowed, (3) the volunteer driver escort program reflecting an increase in the number of clients transported and the number of miles driven; they are taking more people farther. Spencer asked about plans to transport people to the Plain restaurant. Discussion followed. No action taken.
b) Program Overview: Blodgett reported on the need to hire additional drivers, the difficulty in getting people to apply for the limited-term positions, and the anticipated need to purchase another bus using the 5310 grant funds. Discussion followed. No action taken.
Blodgett presented a situation where a Sauk County resident was transported to Richland Center by MTM and was stranded there overnight due to the appointment running past the driver’s shift. The ADRC was notified the next day and arranged for a volunteer driver to pick up the resident and transport home. Blodgett noted how valuable the volunteer driver escorts are.
Blodgett advised the Committee of some problems with the cab company when they come in to purchase taxi punch cards. Discussion followed and Blodgett was advised to contact Richard Running regarding the problems. Wildman noted that if the program is grant dollar driven, so transportation times are limited. Any changes would need to be approved by the Department of Transportation.
