PROPERTY AND INSURANCE COMMITTEE MEETING
May 07, 2013
         Approved Minutes

Members Present:  Virgil Hartje, David Riek, John Miller, Scott VonAsten, George Johnson
Others Present:  Timothy Stieve, Carl Gruber, Julie Hyser, Kathy Schauf, Steve Pribnow

1. Meeting called to order by Riek at 3:30 p.m. Compliance with Open Meeting Law was met.
2.  Adopt Agenda:  Motion by Hartje, 2nd by Johnson to adopt Agenda.  Motion Carried.
3. Adopt draft minutes of April 08, 2013 meeting. Motion by Johnson, 2nd by Miller to adopt the minutes. Carried
4. Public comment: None
5.   Communications:
a.  Request from Gerald Stich for use of the Courthouse Lawn and Courthouse Restrooms for the summer
  Concerts on the Square every Thursday night, June 6th through August 29th, 2013. Motion by Hartje,
  2nd by VonAsten to approve the request. Carried.
b.   Memorandum from Wisconsin Counties Association on 2013 WCA Conference Resolutions.
c. Request from Baraboo Area Senior Citizens Organization to conduct Pizza fundraising sale in
  conjunction with Concerts on the Square. Motion by Von Asten, 2nd Johnson to approve the request.
  Carried.
d. Kathy Schauf was present and advised that the Executive and Legislative committee asked that she pass
  on information regarding a possible large tax deeded property in the City of Baraboo, the old Ringling
  Manor.  City officials had previously appeared before the E&L Committee to discuss a proactive
  approach on handling this property prior to this property becoming a tax deeded.  Committee discussed
possibly touring the property on either May 20th or May 23rd to have a better understanding of the property.
   
6. Business Items:
a. Treasurer’s Report – No Report
          b. Discussion of Building Security Issues. Riek discussed concerns with building security in certain departments. There were several suggestions from committee members to increase the building security.  A survey will be given to the Department Heads, prior to the next meeting, to determine if there are concerns in individual departments. The outcome of the surveys will be discussed at the next meeting.
c.   Discussed letter from Wisconsin Counties Association.  Resolutions will need be addressed E&L meeting scheduled on June 4, 2013 at 8:00 a.m.  The final date to bring any issues to the WCA platform is June 24, 2013.
 
7. Departmental Updates - Risk Management (Carl Gruber)
a. Monthly Report – Carl reviewed his monthly report. Motion by Johnson, 2nd by VonAsten to approve the monthly report. Carried.
b. No deductibles
Departmental Updates – Tim Stieve
a. Monthly Report – Tim reviewed his monthly report.
b. Review and Approval of vouchers.  Motion by Hartje, 2nd by Johnson to approve the vouchers.  Motion Carried.

8. Next meeting date:  Regular meeting is set for June 04, 2013 at 3:30 p.m.

9.  Adjourn:  Motion by Johnson, 2nd by Hartje to adjourn. Motion Carried.
