MEETING NOTICE/AGENDA

 

COMMITTEE:   FINANCE COMMITTEE

                                (A quorum of the Sauk County Executive & Legislative Committee will be present at this meeting due to three supervisors serving on both committees.)

                                The Sauk County Finance Committee will be meeting jointly with the City of Baraboo Finance Committee for these discussions.

FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES    

County Board Room, Room 326, West Square Building, Baraboo WI                   Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Sauk County Finance Committee Members present:  Tommy Lee Bychinski, Joan Fordham, Jason Lane, Andrea Lombard

Excused:  William F. Wenzel

City of Baraboo Finance/Personnel Committee Members present:  Joel Petty, Dennis Thurow

Others present:  David Armstrong, Kerry Beghin, Ed Geick, Liz Geoghegan, Cheryl Giese, Mike Palm, Thomas Pleger, Mark Reitz, Kathy Schauf, and Phil Wedekind.

 

The meeting was called to order by Finance Committee Chairperson Bychinski at 5:00 PM.  Certification of open meeting compliance was given.  Motion by Fordham, second by Lane to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried. 

 

Public Comment:  None.

Communications:  None.

 

Discussion of funding options for UW-Baraboo/Sauk County science facility.

Discussion of funding possibilities, including paperwork and ownership requirements, term of loans, interest rates, and repayment capacity.  The strength of the partnership between the City, County and UW system for the betterment of the community and region was affirmed.  The group discussed developing details in a smaller group setting.

Motion by Fordham , second by Bychinski, to pursue a County loan to the City with representatives to include a member of the County Finance Committee and a member of City Finance/Personnel Committee.  Staff from both organizations will be called upon as needed.  Motion carried. 

 

Review of UW-Baraboo/Sauk County 2014 Budget request.

Armstrong discussed a request of $80,000 from each of the City and County for maintenance and upkeep of the campus facilities.  Further, an additional $65,000 is requested from each entity to continue planning and design for the science facility.

 

Motion by Lombard, second by Lane to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.
