The meeting was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 6:00 p.m. The agenda was approved on a motion by Fish, second by Peper.
Krueger and Bremer welcomed attendees and introductions were provided. Krueger stated that the reason for the meeting was to have discussions with the Town regarding the Town’ input regarding county owned acreage located in the township.
County and Town officials briefly toured the county owned 80 acres property known as “Weidman’s Woods”, and the adjacent 50 acres recently purchased by the County for access to the 80 acres.
Public Comment
Skip Krueger –Expressed concern over “nuisance activities”, noise, and litter.
Char Krueger – Noted that enforcement would be needed to assure that illegal activity does not occur in the area.
Fred Hartley – Would like to see it limited to tent camping and other passive uses at most.
The Town provided input regarding preferred usage and potential development of the 130 acres in the Town of Dellona. The preferred alternative is that the county retain the natural amenities of the site by limiting development to installation of a gate, signage, an access road and fire breaks / lanes throughout the property. Enrollment in the County Forest program and plans to maintain the health of the forest is paramount. Limited public use and access are preferred. It was requested that any planned activities be passive in nature.
Krueger thanked the Town of Dellona for their input and assured that the county would continue to liaise with the Town regarding the property.
Motion by Peper, second by Fish, to adjourn the meeting to August 26, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Stehling
Economic Development Committee Secretary
