REASON FOR MEETING: To develop consensus around a plan for addressing the local issues associated with the opening of the Highway 12 By-Pass in Sauk County.

      a. Information on traffic counts from Ski Hi Road, South Blvd, and Hwy 159.
      b. Discussion of Ski Hi road and exits off of bypass.

The meeting was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 4:00 p.m. The agenda was approved on a motion by Polivka, second by Stehling.

The Committee departed for a tour of former County Landfill, E8795B Evergreen Lane, (between Baraboo and Reedsburg off Highway 33).

The meeting was reconvened in Room B30 after the tour.

The meeting minutes from the prior meeting(s) were approved on a motion by Fish, second by Riek. Motion carried.

Communications
1. Chair Krueger on Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) Resolutions Committee action; Adoption of Resolution at the WCA Annual Meeting Position paper delivered to DOT Commission on Finance and Policy 07/12/12.

Highway 12 / BD Stakeholder discussion began at 6:00 p.m.

Discussion and review of issues associated with the Highway 12 By-Pass from Lake Delton to Ski Hi Road with Design Team representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The DOT design team presented an update on the Hwy 12 / BD project. Ian Winger, Jeremy Krachey, Michael Bakalars joined to review the specifics of a powerpoint. The discussion included: Information on traffic counts from Ski Hi Road, South Blvd, and Hwy 159; and a discussion of Ski Hi road and exits off of bypass.

Report from 12/ BD Subcommittee.
Deb Bauer updated the committee work. Research regarding signage and communications regarding signage has been shared. Next meeting is on the 29th regarding input they received from other businesses.

Meeting date and agenda items for next stakeholder meeting. January 17th or 24th, after the WI DOT public hearing to review the status of the stakeholder group; and 1. Update from subgroup, 2. Signage for next section of Hwy 12, 3. Discussion of public information meetings. Discussion of leaving the cross-over interchange on to Ski Hi Road out of the plan.

Public questions and comments
Don Larson – it is our road, our community. Some progress being made, would like to see additional work by WisDOT.

The stakeholder meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

Discussion of next steps for re-use potential of the Sauk County landfill.
It was recommended that after an initial plan is developed with meeting with other stakeholders that the result of that work would then be presented to the Town for additional consideration. We will be putting together the appropriate stakeholder group for the next meeting.
