COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE MEETING
December 05, 2013

Members Present: Tommy Lee Bychinski, Mark Smooth Detter, Virgil Hartje, Fred Halfen
Excused Scott VonAsten
Others Present: Tim Stieve, Phil Raab, Richard Meister, Kevin Stieve, Steve Pate
1. Meeting called to order by Bychinski at 3:15 p.m. Compliance with Open Meeting Law was met.
2. Adopt Agenda: Motion by Hartje, 2nd by Halfen to approve agenda. Carried.
3. Approve minutes from October 03, 2013 and November 12, 2013 meetings: Motion by Halfen, 2nd by Hartje to
approve minutes. Carried.
4. Public Comment - None.
5. Communications – Tim handed out an email from Bart Olson regarding fiber being pulled into the conduit at the
Sauk City Tower Site.
6. Business Items:
a. Update on recording of County Meetings: Steve Pate noted things have been working well, 150-200 hits per
month. Discussed occasional feedback issues on sound system and whether or not there is a need for another
camera.
b. Update on Towers
i. Narrowbanding: Phil noted all the equipment is in and is being staged at the West Baraboo garage for
programming and testing. Working on scheduling tower work.
ii. Phil noted that he received a call from Police Chief Jerry Strunz about coverage issues in Sauk Prairie Area,
came up when other issues specific to Sauk Prairie Hospital were noted. Phil noted had no complaints from
this area after narrowbanding so nothing had been planned for simulcast for this area. Tim & Phil believe that
we can add this site to the simulcast (Fire & EMS Repeaters and Sheriff Repeater) and stay within the
budgeted amount. Phil also noted several other suggestions he provided to Chief Strunz.
c. Update on Fiber – Tim noted Bart Olson’s concern from his email, no action at this time.
d. Report from Fire, EMS & Police Representatives.
i. None.
7. Next regular meeting was scheduled for February 6th, 2013 at 3:15 p.m.
