A. The Standing Committees of the Board shall be:

Responsible for natural resource management, resource conservation and environmental protection including soils, water, forestry and wildlife resources through participation in various federal, state and local programs. Responsible for developing sustainable practices within County operations and serving in an advisory capacity regarding “green technologies.” Oversees operation of farm lands located at the original Sauk County Health Care Center and environmental obligations associated with the closed Sauk County landfill. They shall also act as Farmland Preservation Review Committee. Responsible for policy direction and oversight for the following departments: Land Conservation Department. Members: 6; 1 Citizen, 5 Supervisors. The Land Conservation Committee shall consist of five supervisors plus the chair of the Sauk County Farm Services Agency Committee, or designee. Wis. Stat. § 92.06 (2009).Land Conservation must have 2 persons who are members of the UW Extension, Arts & Culture Committee
Committee on Agriculture and Extension. Wis. Stat. §59.56(3)(b)92.06 (1) (b) 1 (2009). The County Board shall designate a representative of each of the following committees to serve as advisors to the Land Conservation Committee: Planning, Zoning, & Land Records Committee, Property and Insurance Committee, and Highway Committee. Wis. Stat. § 92.06 (2) (2009).The chair of Planning, Zoning & Land Records and (Forestry, Solid Waste and Parks as needed) shall designate representatives of those committees to serve as advisors to the County Land Conservation Committee.Members of this committee will serve on the lake protection districts.
