Aging & Disability Resource Center Advisory Committee
Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 9:00 A.M.

Members Present: Moore, Demers, Klepper, Brown, Ellington, Carlson, Waddel, Spencer (replacing Hovde)
Members Absent: Hovde
County Personnel: Blodgett, Hause, Kitzinger, Krueger
Chair Moore called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.
MOTION (Carlson/Demers) to adopt the agenda. Motion carried unanimously and agenda adopted.
MOTION (Demers/Waddell) to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 23, 2017. Motion carried unanimously.
Public Comment: None
Communications: Carlson mentioned the “Reaching Out to Spring Green” meeting on 9/13/17 sponsored by the ADRC.
Services Updates:
Nutrition:
1) Numbers: Blodgett distributed reports from the State SAMS program reflecting the number of meals served through July 2017. Discussion followed regarding the dining sites meal costs and various options to be considered.
2) Donations: Blodgett reported on the congregate meal donations collected through July 2017 and broke down the amount collected per meal versus the cost per meal for each site. Discussion followed regarding various options to be considered.
3) Restaurant Model: Blodgett reported that we have received the grant for a restaurant model dining site. Discussion followed regarding the possibilities being explored on how this would be operated and how to determine its success.
Caregiver:
1) Relatives as Parents Grant Proposal: Blodgett reported that we did not receive this grant, but we were encouraged to try again.
2) Respite Scholarship: Blodgett reported that this year we will have paid out the full amount available in respite scholarships to people who are caretakers.
Evidence-based Classes for 2017:
1) Stepping On: Blodgett reported a prevention class will be held in the Fall and all of the participants are from the waiting list established from the class earlier this year.
2) Powerful tools: Blodgett reported the first class was held this summer and had 9 attendees. The attendees have decided to meet monthly to continue that support. Our second class will probably start the first part of October.
3) Blodgett reported we will be looking at trying to partner with hospitals on the evidence based class that works with diabetes. More information will follow.
Community Support and Outreach:
1) Don’t Mess w/ my Medicare: Blodgett reported the first meeting went so well, the presenters asked us to offer another one, which was held in August in Spring Green. Carlson reported there was a good response from the people in Spring Green.
EBS:
Plans for open enrollment: Blodgett reported our EBS staff is booked solid during the open enrollment period and we are preparing for this year’s enrollment.
Other ADRC Updates:
a) Space issues: Blodgett updated the Committee on the reasons for the proposed relocation, estimated costs and the requirements of the grant funding if we receive it.
b) Dementia Update: Blodgett reported the kick-off date for Baraboo is October 19th. We will be training all city staff on becoming dementia friendly and showing “Still Alice” at the library. All law enforcement in the County have been trained as well.
c) Regional Update: Blodgett recapped Sauk County’s enrollment in the ADRC Eagle County Region and presented dashboard reports on the region’s social workers workloads. Discussion followed.
