Blodgett referenced a letter received from a client complimenting Jim Pritzkow and Quinn Hause on the services they provided and the difference it made in this person’s life. A gift card was included which will be used to purchase coffee in our reception area for the next year.
8) Information on Aging Plan:
Blodgett advised the Committee the 3-year aging plan is due to GWAAR the end of July. A special meeting was requested for July 10th to present the plan to the Committee, gather input and make any changes prior to submitting to GWAAR. Numerous focus groups have been conducted and the items that people were most concerned about were economic security, social isolation and transportation. The aging plan will identify goals based on those concerns.
9) Services Updates:
a) Nutrition:
1) Restaurant Model: Blodgett reported the model is very successful and reported on the donation rates compared to the congregate dining centers. She hopes to identify a restaurant in Reedsburg or Baraboo and try opening a restaurant model there next year.
2) Breakfast Bags: Blodgett reported the pilot program was scheduled to run from May thru July. The client surveys have not been analyzed, however the program will end in July. The space needed for preparing and storing the bags compared to what is available, is not working well. Delivery of the bags has also been difficult but changes have been made to streamline the process. She reported it is a wonderful program but we need more time to resolve the space issues. Discussion followed. No action taken.
3) Lake Delton Senior Gathering Site: Blodgett reported on the grand opening today at 9:30 and invited the Committee to attend. Discussion followed on the efforts made to open as a gathering site compared to the previous dining center and the required participation needed for this to be deemed a success and carry forward to 2019. No action taken.
b) Caregiver: Blodgett reported all scholarships for this fiscal year (1/1/18-12/31/18) have been given out. If additional needs are identified, there is funding available thru a community based service grant.
c) Evidence-based Classes for 2018: Blodgett reported Jim Pritzkow and herself are finishing the Powerful Tools for Caregivers class this Thursday and the ADRC will offer another class late summer/early fall. The ADRC is required to have the classes, but she would like to find a volunteer to teach them rather than staff members.
d) Community Support and Outreach: Blodgett reported the dementia friendly training is going well. The Region has been selected to receive funding for a dementia care specialist and the person hired will be an employee of Juneau County covering all four counties in the region.
10) Other ADRC Updates: None
11) Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eagle Country Board Updates: Blodgett reported there will be a regional fiscal meeting on July 26th. She reported on the changes in the state negotiated rates for certain allowable activities that began in April. Discussion followed. No action taken.
12) Next meeting date and time: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 9:00a.m. (Special Joint Meeting with Transportation Coordination Committee for input on the 2019 Aging Plan and final approval)
