Aging & Disability Resource Center Advisory Committee
Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 9:00 A.M.

Members Present: Moore, Demers, Klepper, Brown, Carlson, Waddell, Ellington
Members Absent: Fearson, Spencer

1) Chair Moore called the meeting to order at 9:03 and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.
2) MOTION (Carlson/Demers) to adopt the agenda. Motion carried unanimously and agenda adopted.
3) MOTION (Demers/Klepper) to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of November 28, 2017. Motion carried unanimously.
4) Public Comment:
Blodgett introduced Terry Wolkowski who represents the ADRC on the Regional Governing Board and introductions of those in attendance were done.
Carlson complimented the ADRC on the wonderful job done on the AddLife newsletter. Blodgett agreed and noted that Cathy Bindl does a wonderful job on it and that she would pass along the compliment to Cathy.
5) Communications: None
6) Review Annual Report:
Blodgett apologized that the report is not complete and stated it would be completed and presented to the ADRC Oversight Committee at the March meeting and would then brought before this Committee at the next meeting.
7) Services Updates:
a) Nutrition:
1) Restaurant Model: Blodgett reported the program has started in Plain at the Schnitzelbank Restaurant on Thursdays and Fridays from 9am-11am. Attendance has run between 18-20 people and donations we are receiving the $4.00 suggested donations. If this continues to be successful, the owner is willing to expand the program to run Monday thru Friday. Blodgett encouraged the members to visit the site.
2) Breakfast Bags: Blodgett reported that an application for funding from the Ho Chunk Nation was accepted and the ADRC received $7,000 for a pilot program to deliver breakfast bags to our home-delivered meal clients. The bags will be delivered once every two weeks and mentioned some of the items that would be included in the bags. Plans are to start the deliveries the first part of May.
3) Lake Delton Senior Gathering Site: Blodgett presented background on the two previous closing of the Lake Delton Dining Site, the proposal to reopen the center as a senior gathering site and some of the specifics of the Resolution passed by the County Board. Discussion followed.
The Committee requested these three items remain on future meetings agendas in 2018. Blodgett agreed to do so.
b) Caregiver:
1) Grandparents Group: Blodgett reported that while attending a State meeting in Wisconsin Dells, the Director from the State Office for Resource Center Development (ORCD) commented on our Grandparents Group receiving national recognition. Blodgett believes we may be able to start a group in Reedsburg as well.
c) Evidence-based Classes for 2018:
1) Stepping On – new grant; ideas for volunteer leaders: Blodgett reported on receiving a grant of $10,000 for our Stepping On Classes (evidence-based fall prevention program). The goal is to have 6 new people trained to be leaders of the classes. Blodgett asked if the members in attendance were interested in being a leader (or knew of someone who may be) to let her know. She noted that the people taking the classes now really like them.
2) Powerful tools: Blodgett reported in 2018 we are going to try offering two classes on the same day during the 6 weeks the course runs. One class will be held in the morning in Reedsburg and the other class in Sauk in the afternoon.
d) Community Support and Outreach:
1) Dementia Friendly Ribbon Cutting March 7th: Blodgett reported the task force has accomplished a lot in 2017. 22 business have been trained and the ribbon cutting ceremony will be at the Baraboo Country Club.
e) EBS: open enrollment numbers: Blodgett reported 4 social workers saw 837 unduplicated clients during that time and worked on 912 cases.
f) AARP tax site: Blodgett reported this service is an ongoing yearly program and explained that AARP offers the training to be a tax preparation volunteer. She would like to see the service continue.
g) Transportation update as requested: Blodgett presented a report on the 2017 bus expenditures as requested by Carlson at the previous meeting. Discussion followed. Blodgett noted that the State is not concerned about our cost per leg because it is expensive to get the elderly and disabled where they need to go.
8) Other ADRC Updates:
Space update: Blodgett reported that plans to remodel the 2nd floor have been discontinued after it was determined that the space needs for the department would not be met.She will be contacting the architect to help determine the full amount of space needed instead of what was available.
b) Regional Update: Blodgett reported Juneau County has become the fiscal agent for the region. We have not signed a contract with the Region for 2018 yet. Discussion followed.
9) Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eagle Country Board Updates.
Covered in item 8)b) above. The Board meeting scheduled for February 23rd was cancelled due to weather.
10) Next meeting date and time: Tuesday, May 29, 2018 9:00a.m.
11) MOTION (Carlson/Demers) to adjourn until Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 9:00a.m. Motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
