Chapter 26 and Manure Storage
Sauk County Chapter 26 provides guidance and regulation regarding proper and safe storage, handling, and land application of manure and commercial fertilizer. The goal of this ordinance is to reduce the delivery of manure, other waste materials, fertilizers, and sediment to surface waters and groundwater. This can be accomplished through the use of conservation practices and implementation of state performance standards and prohibitions for agriculture.
Please refer to the ordinance for activities subject to regulation. Cost share assistance is available to help producers achieve compliance with this ordinance. Examples of cost-shared practices based on land use can be found here.
