USH 12 @ Sauk Prairie Road Crash

     On April 5, 2014 at approximately 7:18pm the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a single vehicle roll over traffic crash on USH 12 just south of Sauk Prairie Road in the Township of Prairie Du Sac.  Sheriff’s Deputies, Sauk City Fire Department, and Sauk Prairie Ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene.

     The emergency responders arrived and found the vehicle rolled over in a field with five subjects injured.  Two UW Hospital Med Flight Helicoptors also responded to the scene.

     The driver was identified as Terrance D. Finnie, age 40, of Madison, WI.  Passengers were identified as Bellinda A. Vales, age 44, of Madison, WI, Heaven A. Barlow, age 8, of Madison, WI, Danaijah M. Barlow, age 4, of Madison, WI, and Denise L. Armour, age 17, of Madison, WI.  Danaijah Barlow and Heaven Barlow were not in car seats or wearing seatbelts.  The other vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts.

     The preliminary investigation showed that Terrance D. Finnie was southbound on USH 12 when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to overturn in the west ditch.  Finnie showed signs of being under the influence at the scene.  Finnie has been charged with Abuse of a Hazardous Substance  (K2), Operating A Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing injury, and Operating After Revocation.

     As a result of this incident USH 12 was detoured around this crash for several hours while the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the scene.

     This crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
