Updated News Release

On June 11, 2015 at approximately 6:35am the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a toddler located at a construction site at the intersection of Hatchery Road and Commerce Avenue in the City of Baraboo.  Baraboo Ambulance, Baraboo Police, and Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene.

When construction workers arrived at the site they could hear what sounded like a child crying.  An approximate 2 year old male was found, alert and conscious, inside a 4 foot by 4 foot concrete hole.  The hole was covered with a barrier tarp.

The child was transported by Baraboo Ambulance to St. Clare Hospital.

During the course of the investigation it was learned that the child resided with his parents, his 13 year old sister, and his 4 year old sister at a residence a short distance from the construction site.

This matter is currently under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Baraboo Police Department, and Columbia County Department of Human Services.
