Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

On Wednesday February 1st, 2017, members of the Sauk County Drug Task Force observed Jason R. Johnson, 39, of Baraboo, operating a motor vehicle in the City of Baraboo.  Task Force members were aware that Johnson had several active felony arrest warrants for his arrest. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens. Officers followed Johnson at very low speeds with lights and sirens activated for approximatley 11 city blocks, making multiple turns, before coming to a stop for officers.

Johnson was taken into custody at that point. After taking Johnson into custody. Over 7 grams of Methamphetamine was located in the vehicle and along the route of travel that Johnson drove.

Johnson was transported to the Sauk County jail for the warrants. Additional charges for the drug items are pending. 

Both passengers in the vehicle were released at the location of the traffic stop.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sauk County Drug Task Force.  The Sauk County Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Baraboo Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department, Reedsburg Police Department, LaValle Police Department, Plain police Department and the Spring Green Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.  Anyone with information on this or any crime is encouraged to contact their local Law Enforcement or the Sauk County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-TIP-SAUK (847-7285).
