01/08/2011

On January 7, 2011 at 6:24 pm the Sauk County Communications Center received a call reporting a two vehicle crash with injuries in the Township of Dellona on County Highway H near South Avenue.

The investigation by the deputies determined a vehicle driven by Clarence L. Peters , age 35, of Wisconsin Dells, was south bound on CTH H when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve, crossing over the center line into the oncoming lane of traffic.  Peters struck a north bound vehicle driven by Ralph I. Gray , age 48, of Reedsburg before entering a field and rolling over.   A 50 year old Wisconsin Dells man who was a passenger in Peters’ vehicle was injured; he was taken to Reedsburg Area Medical Center and then later transferred to a Madison hospital by Reedsburg Ambulance due to his injuries.  The name of the injured party is not being released at this time.  Clarence Peters and Ralph Gray were transported to the Reedsburg Area Medical Center and both were later released.

Clarence Peters was charged with “ injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle ”.

The Sauk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Reedsburg Ambulance, Dells-Delton Paramedics and the Reedsburg Fire Department. Seatbelts were worn by both drivers but it is unknown if the injured party was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.  It is believed slippery road conditions and alcohol use were contributing factors to the accident.  The accident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
