Tactical Incident
On January 11, 2015 the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was requested to check a residence on Krause Road in the Township of Woodland for a subject that may be suicidal. Sheriff’s Deputies were able to make phone contact with the subject during the early morning hours of January 12, 2015. During that time the subject stated that he was armed with a handgun and a rifle and made threats to harm himself and officers.
As a result, the Sauk County Emergency Response Team and the Sauk County Critical Incident Negotiation Team were requested and a perimeter was established around the residence. The subject was taken into custody after several hours of negotiations. Nobody was injured in this incident.
Due to extreme weather conditions, assistance was requested by tactical teams from Vernon County, La Crosse County, and Columbia County. This incident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
