Suspected Overdose Deaths

On Monday, June 1st, 2015, at 8:28 pm, the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of two potentially deceased persons outside a residence on County Highway G in the Township of Woodland.
Sauk County Sheriffs Deputies, along with Wonewoc Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene where they located Richard Maurer, 55, and Diane Rogers, 51, both of Rural Wonewoc, deceased outside their home.
Sauk County Sheriffs Office Detectives responded, and during the course of the investigation, located prescription medications as well as suspected heroin, which appeared to have been in use.
Autopsies of both individuals were completed on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015. Toxicological deaths are suspected in both cases however the cause of death is pending until toxicology results are confirmed.
The investigation into these deaths is continuing by the Sauk County Sheriffs Office and the Sauk County Coroners Office.
