Semi vs. SUV - Fatality

On Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 at approximately 7:53 AM Sauk County Dispatch received a report of a two vehicle crash involving an SUV and a semi-truck on US Highway 14 east of County Line Road in the township of Spring Green. It was reported to be a head-on style crash with both vehicles involved having extensive damage. 

The first responding deputies located the crash between a 2020 Toyota RAV4 and a 2017 Freightliner. Both vehicles were in the ditch on the south side of US Highway 14 with partial blockage of the eastbound lane. The driver of the RAV4 sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Freightliner sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Preliminary investigation into the crash shows that the RAV4 was operating in the eastbound lane and the Freightliner was in the westbound lane. The Freightliner left its designated lane of travel and entered into the oncoming lane, striking the RAV4. The highway was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and the crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol. Names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
