Rock Springs Crash
News Release
On August 1, 2014 at 8:34pm the Sauk County Communications received a report of a two vehicle crash on East Broadway/STH 136 at Holtz Street in the Village of Rock Springs. Sauk County deputies responded and found that a Ford Focus operated by Erica A. Burdick, age 44 of Baraboo, was traveling west on STH 136 when she lost control and slid sideways into the path of an eastbound Buick operated by Mary A. Rajchel, age 58 of North Freedom. The Ford then overturned, ending up on its top in a yard south of East Broadway. Both operators were transported to St. Clare Hospital by ambulance. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Both operators were wearing their seatbelts and airbags were deployed. Speed and wet highway conditions were believed to be factors in this crash. Alcohol was not a factor.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Baraboo Ambulance, Reedsburg Ambulance and Rock Springs Fire Department. This crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
