Prescription Drug Take-Back Results

On Saturday, October 26, 2013, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Baraboo Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department and the Reedsburg Police Department participated in the National Take- Back Initiative collecting unused prescription medication and expired over the counter medication.  This collection was done in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Agency to prevent the abuse, misuse and diversion of this medication.

During this event approximately 811 pounds of prescription and over the counter expired medication were removed from the homes in Sauk County.         

Sheriff Meister says, “This program was very successful and is one way to combat prescription drug abuse in Sauk County.”

The public may drop off unused or unwanted medications at the Sheriff’s Office, Baraboo Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department, Reedsburg Police Department and the Sauk Prairie Police Department.
