Pewits Nest

On July 21, 2015 the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office and the Sauk County Board of Supervisors addressed issues related to the parking problem at Pewits Nest on CTH W west of the City of Baraboo.  Pewits Nest has a limited number of parking spots in the parking lot which has caused visitors to park in marked no parking zones on CTH W.  That is creating a safety hazard for visitors and passing motorists because this area is located on a 90 degree corner.  As a result, the Sheriff’s Office has had to issue over 350 citations to violators since Memorial Day weekend.  Effective immediately the fine for parking in a no parking zone will increase from a $10.00 forfeiture to a $20.00 forfeiture and the vehicle will be towed at the owners expense.  In addition, if the fine is not paid within 10 days it will double to $40.00 and the vehicle owners registration will be suspended if it continues to go unpaid.
