OWI #7 Arrest

On February 9, 2017 at approximately 4:30pm the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle operating "all over the road" westbound on STH 136 from USH 12 in West Baraboo.  It was reported that the vehicle continuously crossed over the centerline and then back over the fog line.  A Deputy caught up to the vehicle and also observed this driving behavior.  The vehicle was stopped on Pleasant Valley Road.

The operator was identified as Craig D. Janzen, age 64, of Rock Springs, WI.  As the Deputy spoke with Janzen he could detect evidence that Janzen had been consuming alcohol.  Due to Janzen’s previous six convictions for OWI he is restricted from driving with a blood alcohol concentration above .02 and he is also on Parole for OWI.

Janzen refused to perform field sobriety tests, telling the Deputy “go ahead arrest me.  I’m drunk enough.”  Janzen was arrested for OWI #7 and transported to the Sauk County Jail.  Janzen refused to submit to a chemical test of his blood so a search warrant was obtained to collect that evidence.

Janzen has been charged with OWI 7th Offense and Operating Left of Center Line.  He is also being held on a Parole hold for violating rules of Parole.
