OWI 6th Arrest - City of Reedsburg

On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at about 2:30 pm, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office and the Reedsburg Police Department arrested James R. Seiler, 55 of Baraboo for 6th offense Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated, 1st offense Operating a Motor Vehicle after Revocation, Obstructing an Officer and Speeding in the City of Reedsburg.

At about 1:56 pm, a Sauk County Sheriff’s Lieutenant observed Seiler operating a 2018 Dodge 1500 pickup truck west on Hwy 33 and E. Main Street 55 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. Seiler also made three abrupt and un-signaled lane changes for no apparent reason.

Seiler was stopped for the traffic violations, at which time he falsely identified himself as a different person. Signs of intoxication were noticed and a Reedsburg Police Sergeant responded to assist.

Seiler’s real identity was discovered, which led to information that he had five prior drunk driving convictions, had a revoked drivers license and was on parole for the same conduct.

Seiler was convicted and sentenced to five years state prison in July 2016, with two years of initial confinement and 3 years extended supervision for OMVWI 5th or 6th and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.

Seiler was arrested by the Reedsburg Police Department for the Operating while Intoxicated charge and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office for the Operating after Revocation, Obstructing an Officer and Speed charges. He was taken to the Sauk County Jail where he awaits his bail hearing.
