OWI 5 Arrest

On October 27, 2013 at approximately 2:45am a Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputy was following a vehicle on USH 12 in the area of South Boulevard in the City of Baraboo.  The Deputy ran a check on the registration of the vehicle and subsequently ran a drivers license check on the registered owner.  The Deputy was advised that the owner, identified as Louis J. Meinhardt, age 26, of Friendship, WI, had a suspended drivers license.

The Deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with Meinhardt.  The Deputy could detect the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.  Meinhardt appeared to be under the influence of marijuana and failed standardized field sobriety tests.  During a search of the vehicle, Deputies found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

It was discovered that Meinhardt had four prior convictions for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated and two prior convictions for Operating After Suspension.

Meinhardt was incarcerated in the Sauk County Jail and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated 5th Offense, Operating After Suspension 3rd Offense, Felony Bail Jumping, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
